Saturday is a special day!

So... If you check out the slideshow just below this post you'll see that we have a yard! And it has grass now! Yippee! As it turns out, this was a very busy weekend, and had we had a choice, we would not have done the sod, but when the time is right, ya gotta go with it. So, Friday at 5:45 the sod truck pulled up. My brother, dad, brothers-in-law, and some nephews also pulled up. Eventually more would come, but that's who was here when we left. Yep, we left. My mother-in-law retired and she needed a party! So, we went to Roy, hopefully we showed her some appreciation for all her years of working to put kids through missions and a little college help. Two things had us leaving a little early...one was the bad wind, and the other was a phone call saying they were done laying the front yard! If we wanted to have anything to do with the sod, we had to get home. By 9:00 we were basically done laying sod and soon enjoyed some root beer floats as reward. THANK YOU to everyone who helped!!! It looks so nice and we can't wait to get on it.

Saturday was Providence, Utah's 150th anniversary. My dad was involved with planning a memorial and the whole day was so fantastic. There was a program in the morning, which you can see some of below. Yes, that man in the middle picture is playing the flute with his nose! He was my Music 101 teacher, a friend of my folks, and even appeared on the tonight show with Johnny Carson! He was delightful as usual. I tried to find him on You Tube without success. Anyway, the next picture is President Packer, and he dedicated the monument. Next you can see the brick our family bought, and then the actual memorial to the pioneers who settled Providence. As a side note, I feel like I got to grow up in the greatest little town of America, and feel very blessed to have my roots there!

Later in the day there was a little fair at the park. The kids could play on lots of inflatables, ride a shark-go-round, and climb a rock wall. Then, at the booths we got lots of freebies and played some little games. Let me give you our tally for our family...we made out like bandits!

Mark and Mikayla earned $5 to Macey's grocery store, and Stacy earned $10 playing their games. My mom won the 'guess how much this cart of groceries cost' and got $25. Then, the bank had drawings and Betsey won a mug, Elaine won golf balls. Jeffrey, Stacy, Morgan, and Mikayla also won a chance to go in the Cash Box, where the money flies all around you and you try to catch what you can. They won $9, $22, $16, and $20, respectively. Then between us all we won 4 free haircuts. Isn't that so fun! Not to mention all the free creamies, otter pops, water bottles, cookie packs, and fruit you could eat!

That night we watched the magic show at the park, then headed to my parents for a cook out. The food was delicious, as always. We got to help my neice celebrate her birthday. Worn out, happy, and full of freebies. What a way to spend a Saturday!
