Thirty what?

Wouldn't you like to know.  Me too, I have to add it up every year, or ask my kids who are always ready to remind me of my age.  But, this year I decided the only thing I wanted for my birthday was to be happy and it's a gift I could give myself.  Paid off.  I had a great birthday.

The week before I won a dozen donuts from Kent's in a facebook contest so I cashed it in the morning of my birthday.  Calories don't count on your birthday, so live it up.  John took the boys shooting in the morning.  It was a gift to me to not have to go because the road to that particular spot scares me to death.  When they came home they wanted me to open presents.  No problem!  John surprised me with an iPod touch, and it's so fun!  I need to get some more music downloaded on it but I have learned to play Angry Birds (horrible game) and started 3 games of Words With Friends so the important things are on there.

For dinner we used John's birthday present...a gift card to Red Robin. Dinner was great and so was our trip to Smith and Edwards. Always fun. I loved getting all those birthday messages on Facebook...even though I know everyone was reminded, I still felt loved! I also got a lot of great phone calls and felt the love. So fun.

We ran out of stomach room and time so we had my birthday brownies on Sunday afternoon.  Much better than a cake if you ask me!  And yes, that is me singing to myself.  Here is some of my other spoilage...

{bracelets from Jane and Katie Anne}
 {a picnic quilt from Ruth Ann...used it at the fireworks!}
 {a stick from my dad, but not just any stick.  This stick is used when making homemade ice cream to move the ice and salt around.  He also gave me a bag of salt.  It wasn't technically for my birthday, but this is a good spot to showcase it!}
{This darling ruffled apron from my niece Andrea. So talented!  I loved wearing it today as I prepared dinner.}
 {And the girls wore these when they ate this morning...had to cover their pretty dresses with something pretty!  Have I mentioned before that I just love my nieces and nephews!}

Well happy late birthday! I thought you should try the game word monkey on your itouch - my dad plays almost every night. He says it is OK because it is "exercise" for the mind. :) When we visited them it was a nightly routine for all of us to sit on the couch and try our hand at the game - thought you might enjoy it, at least more than angry birds. - Marissa
