Spring Break, Friday

And it did get better!  Joy in the morning...
Sausage and pancakes for breakfast (yum).
Betsey said I could use her super warm sleeping bag, since she had to leave that night, so I had hope.

Mark announced a ride and the getting ready began.  This part takes FOREVER.
The kids were fine, though, digging, digging, digging...
and hula hooping for what seemed like hours!  Jack and Maeci  (helmet heads) could go forever!
Finally we were all loaded up and ready to go.

We had 52 people and 30 machines.
We all had a place to sit and a helmet, so we were good to go.
See Katie Anne in the big helmet and big smile...
She slept most of the way.  Luckily Grandma was there to keep her from bouncing around too much.
I rode with Stacy and had a GREAT time.  I wasn't ever nervous, like I usually am.  I didn't have to grit my teeth or be tense the whole time.  My kind of ride!
Jane rode with Aunt Betsey, Jeffrey with Grandpa, and Jack with John.
Eventually we arrived at our destination...
A beautiful slot canyon!
Enter here:

In that bottom pic of Mark he's pointing out footholes where ancient people may have climbed up to a nice ledge.  Maybe they stored water there, or food, or candy they didn't want their kids to find.
We had snacks, because you always have snacks on a big ride.  Jack climbed up the side of a rock hill and freaked me out (way to go bud!) and when I get those pics (taken on Stacy's camera), I'll post.

Friday dinner: Dutch oven potatoes (so much bacon, cheese, and a few potatoes!  YUM!!), several kinds of Dutch oven chicken, green beans, rolls, and Dutch oven cobbler, though I ate so many potatoes that I skipped dessert.
Friday sleeping:  Warmer!  It was still a pretty cold night but we all did much better.  YEAH!

But wait...there's more!
