Sunday morning we were up bright and early. Early enough that all of a sudden we decided that maybe we could make it to 9:00 church. We scrambled for breakfast and church clothes and shoes. I went in my tent to change and when I came out, there came Ronelle from her own tent. She noticed it first...
I suppose it is most definately true what they say...
Great minds DO think alike!
We headed off to church but thanks to modern technology in the form of GPS we were a little late. Sometimes those devices like to take the scenic route! Our two families squished onto a side bench and enjoyed sacrament meeting.
After church we headed over to the Santa Barbara mission. We were just in time to hear the bells ringing for 11:00 mass. We wandered around the grounds a little then headed inside the grounds for a tour. It is a working mission but we've yet to see an actual monk there. We love seeing the big tree and the inside of the chapel (once mass is over). If you've read "The Island of the Blue Dolphins" you'll be interested to know that the main character of that book lived and, when rescued, was brought to the mission, where she lived, died, and was buried.
