Eight is Great

Jane's Day...
Jane woke up at 4:45.  Yikes.  I told her to go back to bed and to NOT think about her birthday.  Thankfully she slept for a couple more hours.  I made the requested Awful Waffles for breakfast.  Not sure how they got that name because they are so darn good.  Maybe we named them on opposite day and it stuck.  I don't know.
Anyhoo...
Her cute primary teachers came by and brought her treasures. 
Her cousin Alyson came soon after and brought her more gifts and to stay for the party.
First we had her requested birthday lunch of Ramen.
Then we had The Party.

After her friends left she had fun playing with all her gifts...mostly lip gloss, nail polish, and crafty stuff.

For dinner we had the again requested Enchiladas.


We had already had cake and ice cream but the boys weren't there to sing so I stuck some candles in the enchiladas instead. 
Oh another tradition...found that Happy Birthday goblet at the Dollartree!  So fun!

John sang it Agren Style, so it was very loud and very off key. 

She blew them out quickly, but alas...

Some of us had a little extra wax in our bites.

After dinner we got out her baby book and told her story. 
And then she got to open the presents she was forced to look at all day. 
I set them out first thing in the morning but we don't open until after dinner.
Anticipation is half the fun, is it not?
And did you notice that wrapping paper?  LOVE IT!  Found it at Costco and it's double sided.  Look for the cool colors as you look through these pics.

I HAD to buy her this t-shirt...the brand is Jane!

Next she opened a light box so she can trace things easier.

And finally her very own backpacking sleeping bag.

Birthdays never last just one day around here...
The cards will stay up for a while as well as a few other decorations. 
After all you only turn ______ once...might as well enjoy it!
