How is this possible...

Eight years ago today I {FINALLY!} went to the hospital to have my baby girl.  Six ladies in my group of friends were all preggers at the same time, with my due date being among the first.  I was second to last todeliver, having gone 8 {EIGHT} days over.  One friend is so competitive she had her baby a couple of weeks early and three days before Jane came...on her bathroom floor! Such fun memories and yes, I'm glad it was her and not me!

My mom and dad got tired of waiting for the phone call so they came to California anyway.  My mom was able to come to the hospital and see Jane born.  I slipped into hostess mode and tried to make jokes and make her more comfortable but John told me later it really did not work at all, and that I was kind of crazy.  Anyway, we all remember the blessed moment Jane entered the world and are the better for it.

(Sorry...digital pics weren't part of our family then so these pics are from when she was two...)

Jane has always been full of life.  She is a passionate soul that puts her whole heart into everything.  This includes times when she's upset but we are hoping to get past that.  Soon would be good.  Anyway, looking back at these pictures I have been filled with a love for her that sometimes gets a little lost in the frustration of some of these episodes.  She really is a darling girl who has a great sense of humor.  She is so unafraid of so many things that still scare me to death.  She'll ride anything at Lagoon, went on a huge backpack trip, goes at anything with confidence, and is a good friend.  I do love my Jane and am wondering how she is 8 already!  She is looking forward to her baptism next month, a very special time.

Those strong spirits (I have one of my own) are not always the most fun to raise, but they are strong for a good reason. They going to need that toughness to survive!

Happy Birthday Jane!
