For Week of February 4-10
Here we go again! Last week was also a busy one.
*We had a fun Valentine's FHE putting valentines together for every cousin who still lives at home. Sorry, older Jardine kids...we love you anyway! We talked about each person and which side of the family they are on. Does this count as family history?
*John spent Tuesday in L.A. He brought home fun prizes for the kids from the company he went to visit, prizes like...notebooks, ugly hats, things like that!
* Jeffrey home sick Tuesday, home on a 'better keep him home to see if he's going to be sick' day on Wednesday.
*Made my batch of bread for the year. No, it doesn't last a year, but I so rarely make it that I have a goal of making it once a year. It turned out great!
*Everyone in the family got haircuts except Jane and Katie Anne. I'm the only paying customer, thanks to a talented husband who can even cut his own hair!
*Jack is learning how to whistle out instead of in. The whistling may drive me a little crazy but it's keeping his mouth busy so his nail biting habit has diminished considerably! Jane is trying to 'whistle' now, but only knows the tune of 'Jingle Bells'. Yikes.
*I attended our HFPE cooking group, expected hundreds of women, as we were all to bring chocolate recipes and samples. Well, there was plenty of chocolate and we all definately got our fill! YUM! Good conversation to boot!
*Taught YW in our ward on loving one another. I came up with a great object lesson: Sunday morning I took a frozen individually wrapped Hostess cupcake (luckily I had those in the freezer!) and carefully sliced open the bottom of the package and removed the cupcake. I carved out a hole for a rock, then put it all back together. Then, at church, I had a girl come up to cut it in half to share with another girl. They thought this was the lesson. But when she hit the rock she said, and I quote, "What the freak is in this thing!" The lesson is: A rock is a rock, even if it's surrounded by something sweet. Don't be mean and coat it with an "I'm kidding". It's still mean. It's still a rock.
*And that's the week, in a nut shell.

I LOVE that cupcake analogy!!!
That's a great object lesson! Maybe it needs to be shared with the YM!!
Cute! You always do a good job with these special assignments. Start slacking off so you don't have to do it anymore. I had a friend tell once that he sat in the back of the room for all his meeting so they wouldn't call him as Elder's Quorom president.
I haven't baked a loaf of bread this year yet, so you have me beat. And the object lesson is a good one, but I have no idea why you would need to even do a lesson on loving each other in YW. Don't they always love each other? Aren't they always nice to each other? What has happened there since I left? It's like everything is falling apart. It must be a slippery slope thing, you know with the... GASP... "what the freak is this" language.
Kathryn, just read your blog. Where in the world do you think up all those things!!!! I loved the things about visitors. It was great. The sun is shining today. I think I must be losing it - I have gone to choir practice at 11 for the last few weeks, and for some reason thought it started at 10 this morning - got there and no one there, of course!!! Dad has been giving blessings at 10 on Sun., so Have been getting ready by 10! Ding dong!!! We had a great valentine dinner with the Thomas's.
