Weekly Review

For Feb. 25-Mar 1

What a week! We had a great one, as usual. Well, maybe not great, but we had one!

  • For FHE we went to Sizzler for dinner to spend Jack's student of the month award. He ordered fried shrimp. He really liked it!
  • Tuesday Jane enjoyed playgroup at Tommy's. The theme for the day was friendship and they all got along the whole time! The beautiful weather could have helped their good moods!
  • Wednesday Jane was sick so we missed music makers.
  • Thursday she was still kind of sick, but no fever. By the afternoon when she hadn't had any 'sick signs' I decided we could go to the park where a few of our friends were meeting up. The day was GORGEOUS! All the kids and all the moms got along so well. I hated to leave!
  • Thursday night was book group. We had read "The Wedding Ring" by Emily Richardson. It was o.k. I actually didn't like it too much, but it deals a little with the death of a child and I just can't read those right now!
  • Friday my brother, Mark, turned 10, or 40. Yep, he's a leap year baby. He even got written up in the Deseret News!
  • Friday John and I took the girls with us to Lancaster while the boys were in school. I ordered new glasses and got a few springy clothes. I really hate to shop. But, one funny thing happened while I was headed into a dressing room. This lady practically ran out of hers when she heard me coming to get an opinion on a dress she was trying on. I thought it looked ridiculous but what are you going to say? Anyway, we each headed into our stalls and she kept on talking about her recent augmentative surgery and how she's 51 but doesn't want to look like she's trying too hard, and how much her boyfriend would like the dress. I couldn't really relate too well but we had this friendly conversation. I even found out she and Katie Anne share the same birthday! Funny, huh!
  • Anyway, we returned home exhausted. The boys had been at a friend's house since after school so we are in debt to them and can't thank them enough! The boys had a great time.
  • Saturday John had BB practice then I went to a camp meeting then grocery shopping, and somehow we got the house picked up in time for Grandma and Grandpa Hicken to show up! We were so glad to have them come, even if it was short! We went out for ice cream, rode around town, had dinner, watched slides, and crashed!
  • Sunday I tried to feed lunch to the kids at 10:15 and realized I was just too tired to even remember how to tell time. I took a nap and felt much better! Nice Sunday day.
  • I took Jane and Katie Anne to the doctor today to see about their coughs. Both of Jane's ears have infections and Katie Anne is fine unless her boogers turn green or she gets a fever.
  • O.k. this is it, because this is too long!!! But, while we were waiting for Jane's perscription I decided I'd let her ride the toy outside Albertson's. I put the money in and nothing happened. I said, under my breath, "Well, that's dumb!" A man walking by said, "Maybe the operator is the dumb one!" I was so shocked! But, I had to laugh. I'm sure I've always thought they were a waste of money. Anyway, someone pointed out that it was unplugged so I plugged it in, wasted 50 more cents, and passed another minute of time while we waited! I think it was worth it!

Don't worry I have wasted money on those dumb things before also. It sure makes the kids happy after shopping.

I"m sorry that Jane has an ear infection, but it so nice to have an answer for the whining and complaining. Or at least it is at our house!

Sounds like a great week. The day at the park was fun and much needed. I hope the weather holds for awhile. I can't believe you saw my mom in the dressing room. I had no idea she was in Lancaster!

I bet nobody else knew that turning about has wasted money on augmentation. These blogs really are a window into other people's lives.
