Big Deal Day!

We had a really fun day to celebrate our anniversary. We first went to the Fish Hatchery where we got to see some of the little fish. They don't have a lot due to a fire that almost took the hatchery last year. The water was so full of ash that it killed most of the fish. Anyway, there were still some in the pond that we could feed and they were HUGE! John was wishing he caught some like that on his backpack trips! We ate lunch on the huge grassy area and the sprinklers came on so we were running quick to move everything, including Katie Anne who was playing on a blanket on the grass!

We also went to Whitney Portals where we could actually use the fishing poles. We finally caught one at the end and another guy gave us 2 of his. We enjoyed a little hike where we had a little surprise. The kids have been collecting the state quarters and we have been looking for Delaware for a long time. There, in the middle of the forest on top of a huge rock, was Delaware, and Wyoming for that matter! It was very exciting for everyone! We headed down the mountain after a look at the water fall. We took a brief off road trip near Lone Pine to see the Alabama Hills that were really amazing rock formations. I could just hear my dad, "This is tremendous!" We made our way to Lone Pine and found an ice cream shop. A nice fun day!

Sounds like fun. You should try it sometime without the kids, it's even funner, if that's a word. The scenery is beautiful in the pics. Looks just like the Black Hills.
