Happy April Fool's Day! I tried and tried to come up with some hilarious joke to put on my blog, and couldn't think of a darn thing! Oh well, it's Wordful Wednesday anyway, and the theme is: tell us something funny - a made up story, an embarrassing moment, some good April Fool's pranks, whatever suits your fancy!
So, I got to thinking, what's funny to me? Well, I love the cartoons. I love good old fashioned Saturday Morning cartoons, and I love the Sunday comics, and try to eat breakfast while reading them (it's really the best way). One of my favorites is Baby Blues. So here's one to make ya smile...
I also like to watch t.v., especially when it makes me laugh right out loud. Our whole family watches America's Funniest Home Videos every Sunday night and we just laugh the whole way through. My favorite one ever is of a girl on a rope swing and she leans out all 'sexy' like and her head rams right into a bird bath. Nope, you just can't laugh at it when you hear it described! I have tried in vain to find it on the internet, so if you see it be sure to send it along.
I think my kids are funny. I have a special notebook that I write down funny things my kids say. Here's a sampling:
*Jack (age 5) After a hectic rush to sign up for swim lessons at the last minute, the boys asked me what was for dinner. Glancing at the clock and feeling a 'low' on my energy guage I said, "Let's have frozen pizza" and Jack said, "I'd rather have mine warm."
*Jack (age 5) Grandma told Jack he needed to get a sense of humor and he replied, "Oh, where do I get one?"
*Jeffrey (age 3) Jeffrey was pretty ornery so I told him he'd have to go to bed early. "No," he whined, "I'll pretend to be happy."
*Jeffrey (almost 4) Jeffrey was being loud in the van so I told him to turn the volume down. I asked him if he had a volume button and he said, "Yeah, but it's lost."
*Jane (last week, to me): I wish you looked more like Grandpa. I like how he has those two hairs.
*Jane (age 2 1/2) Jane just came and told us her leg was wet from her bless you. We couldn't figure it out until we remembered she had just sneezed!
I like to write funny poems, sometimes. Here's one of my favorites:
This morning as I washed up
I realized the reason why
I sometimes felt a little fruity,
Though I knew I wouldn’t die.
My shampoo is Ginger Mango,
Energizing is what it says.
So how come I don’t feel it
As I go through out my days?
I lather up my pretty pouf
With my brand new shower gel
It’s Exfoliating Apricot
That I’m supposed to smell.
I get out of the shower
And dry off all the wet.
I roll on Pear Illusions,
Just in case I break a sweat.
As I go throughout the day
I keep my self so clean
When I wash up in the kitchen
The soap is Mango Mandarin.
But if I wash at other sinks
I might find something very
Different like Crisp Citrus Herb,
In the bathroom it’s Pear Berry.
But in the end when I feel itchy
I do something demented.
I moisturize all my dry skin,
With lotion that’s unscented.

Thanks for the giggles!
Mr. FR and I are really laughing over Grandpa's two hairs!
Mr. FR just left for work and had to come back in. One of the girls had switched the keys to his truck for APril Fool's.
I love the comics and what the kids say! I was laughing out loud here! I have a cute joke Ethan told me the other day:
Two robins were our early one morning eating worms. They ate and ate until they were so stuffed they couldn't fly away. They decided to lay down on a little under the sun until they had digested a little. Well, along came a cat and ate up the two birds. He licked his lips and said,"I love Baskin' Robins!"
My grandpa LOVED his Reader's Digest jokes. He couldn't ever say them without cracking up 2 or 3times before the punch line. Thanks for the fun memory.
You are so fun and so funny! I'm glad I know you!
Fun post! I love the conglomerate of jokes, cartoons, and one liners from your kids! We always watch AFV together too, its so funny to watch my kids react to the bike crashes etc.
I love the comic strip. It sounded just like a day in the life at our house!
Love the laughs. Thanks! The comic strip is so true in our house too.
Thanks for the one liners from your kids. They were awesome and so is your poem! I love how you can see the humor in every day activities...something I need to be reminded to do. Thanks!
I love the comics too. Whenever I find a good one I cut it out and tape it inside my cupboard doors.
what has a bottum at the top?
Your leg!!!
That was funny. I love the things kids say.
Thanks for the LOL'S! I loved the things your kids said. Post more of those please!
The poem was great too!
What makes me laugh is watching two sisters who look exactly alike, laughing until tears are squirting and then wiping their tears at the same exact time in the same exact way. That makes me laugh! i.e. You and Stacy at the dinner table in Providence.
