Tuesday Tips...Notes Frames

This weeks tip is about communicating with your kids (in the morning at least...). As it turns out, my kids don't want me to wake them up with a sweet good morning, opening the blinds, and a little rub on the back to get them out of bed. Hmm. I guess they get this from me, because I have always just needed a little time to pull myself together before being spoken to. So, we got them an alarm clock, made a list of what needs done in the morning, and created this little note board, so I could interact with them without actually, well, interacting!

I have a stack of 3x5 cards in my bathroom so I can quickly jot a note, then I run it to their bathroom and leave it in a clear plastic frame with scrapbook paper in it. The notes have included lots of different things...what they need for school that day, a congratulations on something they did, or a request to take their dirty laundry to the laundry room. Most of the cards are encouraging them to do their morning routine quickly, quietly (to keep the girls asleep) and happily. They like it best when I draw, and as you can see from the cards below, an artist I am not. But, they don't know the difference and it keeps it fun. Jeffrey complains when I go a day or two without changing the cards, and Jack will come down with a big grin and say, "I saw what you wrote on that card today". It's been kind of fun, which is a good way to start the day.

***I have since made their frame a little cuter, and these frames are being sent to the people who signed up for freebies way back when...hope you like them!
***A sampling of some of the notes I've left them.

***These are also useful for posting helpful reminders such as YOU ARE THE GREATEST MOM EVER around your home, or for memorizing a quote or scripture.

What a clever mom you are!! I'll have to tuck that one away for when the boys are a bit older! Thanks for sharing!

Okay this is very awesome. I would say that I will start doing this, but I know myself better than that. I'm just glad to live in a world where someone does this!
