Last Sunday evening it became clear that we needed a change of scenery. We pulled out the bikes and took a ride down to see the temple. I can't tell you how fun it has been to watch this progress! Each time I see it I am reminded of the talk given at the time the land was dedicated...that as we watch the temple being built, we make sure that we are building ourselves and progressing as well.
When we arrived at the Tabernacle lawn we found all kinds of people checking out the temple. We walked across the street to look in the viewing area, then walked around part of the block to see some more. To get a good view you can 1) climb illegally on the cement barrier to peek over the green lined chain link fence or 2) hold you camer up high and take a few pictures to check out later. We did both.
Since we took these pictures just a week ago they have finished the front and put the spire on, which will eventually hold Moroni. We can see the spire from our upstairs window and are so excited that we will be able to glimpse Moroni (or Ramoni, as Jane calls him) year round.

The kids liked checking out the temple but the ditch stole the show. The dunked their heads (irrigation water never killed me...), chased grass floating down it, and just lazed around on the grass. It was a perfect Sunday afternoon. Except, it wasn't afternoon. I checked my watch and it was almost 8:00! We had eaten dinner after church, ice cream at 5:00, then nothing else. We raced home for toast and were SO glad it was summer, with no school to get up for!
The rest of the week went pretty good.
Highlights include:
a trip to the DI for some fun summer books
a trip to Smith and Edwards for candy
park day in the rain (those who were there just swapped some kids around so the kids could still play)
piano lessons
singing lessons
the garden is growing!
the cotton is blowing!
play time with kids
a trip to the library
playtime outside
I went to the Logan temple on Friday morning. I found my parents at the end of their shift so we went to Frederico's for lunch. The ham and cheese salad did not disappoint! I ran a bunch of errands after then made it home just in time for the boys to leave for father's and son's. My ambitious husband took Jack, Jeffrey, and a few scouts on a 5 mile hike to get there. They were paid by the very interesting site of a snake swallowing another snake. I'll try to get a picture for you from one of the scouts.
I thought we'd have girls night but Jane had a better invite...she went to her first late night at Hannah's where they had pizza, s'mores, and face painting. Katie Anne and I drove up to the girl's camp to pick up a very sweaty John so he could shower and feel human before going back up to spend the night. Notice I did not say sleep. Three hours is more of a nap!

The temple is going up fast. We heard that it will be next fall before it is finished. Do you know any different. Are those peach blossoms?
Melia's husband Matt Kelley is working on the Brigham City temple. He is a foreman that has been in charge of putting up the walls. He texts me photos of his handiwork!
