Our Fall Break fell on a most perfect weekend! We had wonderful weather and wonderful times...
We started off Thursday morning with a trip to Honeyville to blow up some vegetables. I shot a tomato right off the top of a milk jug! We came home and changed clothes before heading to lunch at a very crowded In-N-Out in Centerville, John's favorite. I always think I don't like the fries but when I start in on them I can't get enough!
Next stop: Herriman. We went to visit our good friends the Haymonds. The kids took off in their various directions to play. We loaded them all up after a while and went to Kennecott Copper Mine, which, roughly translated, means a CRAZY BIG HOLE! They have been mining copper there for a long time. You can see how big the tires for the trucks are! We saw some of the big trucks way down in the hole, and they didn't seem that big, until a regular Ford truck drove by one and it was like a matchbox car next to a Hummer. We learned later that a truck (or two!) could fit inside the scooper of the truck! We watched a little video and looked through the view finders before being kicked out so they could do a blast. We went back to the Haymonds for pizza and monster cupcakes (Merry is so talented!)...
We headed home to get ready to head to dinner with the Bailey's who were camping at Hyrum Dam. The kids had trees to climb and room to run. Thanks to Aly for entertaining the girls on her bike!
We had the great idea to grab some lunch and head up Logan Canyon to eat it and hike around. We took hamburgers, fries, and a gallon of rootbeer from A&W. The only problem we had...everyone else had the same great idea! We finally found a parking spot and had a great lunch. The kids found more trees to climb then we walked the trail along the dam. We met a woman catching grasshoppers to take home to her chickens. The kids were loving her dog...she showed them how she could throw the stick in the dam and he (named Jack!) would swim out and get it. They all got a good shower when the dog, with the stick, came back and shook off. The colors weren't as brilliant as they could be, but were pretty enough for me. My parents red bushes took the cake, though. SO PRETTY!
So, that's our UEA weekend...not to shabby,eh!
