Bright and early this morning John and I headed to a ward conference leadership meeting. We were able to do this because Jack is old enough to babysit for a little bit now! Life changing. He has quite a bit of help from Mr. TeeVee (thank you Book of Mormon stories dvd this morning!) but the point is, we can leave a little bit and it's all right.
There were two things this morning that struck me. The first was a story about a man wandering around a construction site. He came upon a man laying bricks and asked the man, "What are you doing?" The man replied the obvious, "I am laying bricks." The man wandered around a bit more until he found another man laying bricks. He asked his question, "What are you doing?" This man then replied, "I am building a temple." What is the difference? One is doing his job, the other man is doing his job with perspective. It helps when going through the daily grind to ask WHY, and to then have an answer to that question. What is your answer to the question of "Why are you cleaning the ?" Is it that you are cleaning it? Or is it that you want to have a clean peaceful feeling in your home where people feel comfortable. It's something to think about.
In another talk we were asked what Righteous Routines and Holy Habits we have in place in our homes that are helping us to Arise and Shine Forth. My first thoughts were Sunday School answers:

Righteous Routines
Scripture Study, Family and Personal
Prayer, Family and Personal
Attending church and the additional activities
Family Home Evening
Good things bug (a chance to talk about our day together)
Sunday dinner and it's ensuing discussions about what we learned at church that day
Others that were eventually brought to mind were:
serving others
working together
playing together (I hope Just Dance counts as a righteous routine!)
supporting each other
observing each other
Really the list is endless. The point he was making is that when we have righteous routines and holy habits the negative things of the world have no place in our homes and hearts.
What are your righteous routines and holy habits?
