Jack's turn came next. He has worked every Friday after school on a Sumo fighting robot. He and his friend D were partners just like last year. Last year they had to program the robot to navigate a maze. Next year the robot will have to sort m&m's, but this year, well, this was a fighting year!
Jack and D made it into the finals. They had a nice wedge on their robot that could scoop up the opposing force and push it right off the circle. But, winning was not meant to be...they lost after a few rounds but had a great time.

Part of the fun is having the competition at Lagoon. It's part of USU Physics Day where hundreds of schools from Utah and neighboring states come to compete and test all kinds of physics projects. John and Jeffrey went along to help test the rides and watch the action. Sadly the day was quite rainy and cold (you're welcome boys for making you wear pants and a fleece and a rain jacket. You might have been the only semi-warm people there!). Still, after a bit they were able to ride rides before their competition began.
The next week he finished up with band. He has played the oboe this year and done pretty well with it, though he has decided not to take band again next year.
I had a hard time getting any kind of decent picture but at least this is proof that he was there and so were we!
