Presidential Elk?

What a way to spend a day remembering our presidents...
Some are more worth remembering than others, eh!
OK, so that morning we did jobs, practiced the piano, and made a runway out of chairs, catching balloons on the take off.
This picture is also for all you crazies who think my house is always picked up...
In the afternoon John came home early and we met up with his brother, Nate, and his family, Dawn, Carson, and Natalie.
We drove up to Hardware Ranch to see the Elk.
We went up to the lodge to buy tickets (Jack and Jeffrey were considered adults!  That's an extra $4!).
We played around a little at the hands on museum...

I'm a unihorn!
(Can you name that show?)

And this is my FAVORITE picture from that part of the outing.

Well...we had to go or we might not get what we came and paid for...a sleigh ride.
Brrr...it's cold outside. Bad mommy award goes to...
ME! I forgot to make sure the boys had coats.
Good aunt award goes to...
Dawn who had extra jackets in her car.
It was cold enough that the boys even wore them!

Finally, we are on the sleigh...

I just want to eat these girls up they are so cute!

Don't really want to eat these girls up...
though if John has his way, I might do just that next year.  Hmm.

The driver/tour guide told us at the beginning that most of the animals were female and most of them were pregnant.
Jane must have thought about this as we drove around, because as we pulled up to the hitching post at the end she asked if the Mommy Elks were surprised when they figured out they had a baby inside of them.  She then went on to speculate that there must be something in the food they eat that makes the baby's start to grow.

If that's true...watch what you eat, eh!
And really, Happy President's Day.
