Jeffrey's end of year/end of Elementary School has included many fun activities. Yesterday they had an all day read-a-thon where, he told me, NOBODY read! Just fun and games. The fifth grade got to go to a Bee's game in SLC, and he got his state writing assessment score back...a perfect 30! Woohoo!
He also got to run the Beehive Mile...
*with his best friend
*stretching out
*running hard
*cooling down

Our school didn't have a robots club this year so I pulled some strings and got loud and obnoxious until another school let him into their group. He had a great time every Friday building and testing a LEGO Mindstorms robot with his partner.
USU hosts a physics day at Lagoon every year where schools compete in different activities, including the robots. Their task was to navigate a before unseen maze. The robot used it's eyes, touch sensors, and programming the kids did to get through.
Jeffrey and his partner got an award for best software knowledge.
Unfortunately, and probably because their trial run was flawless, their robot tanked the actual competition. Oh well, they had a great time.

I went down to Lagoon to cheer him on. He had a blast running around with his friends when they weren't competing, riding all the rides and running from one to the other. I didn't attempt to follow him around (nor did he want me to) so I wandered around looking at other exhibits tied to the USU physics day. There was also a dance competition that I watched for a while, then found myself in a Pioneer Village bakery just as fresh cinnamon rolls were coming out of the oven. YUM!

How fun! You would think in a town full of engineers this would be huge, but nope! What fun experiences!
