YS Thursday

My first thought of the day was, let's just get home.  But not knowing when we'd get back that way again, we decided to make a couple of stops and I am so glad we did!

We first stopped in Island Park at a place called Big Springs.  I thought we'd see a little trickle coming out of the mountain but it's the size of a lake, and creates the Henry Fork of the Snake River.  You could see the water bubbling up from the ground.  The water is clean, crisp, and clear! Over 2 million gallons bubble up EVERY DAY!

Before we took that picture on the top left we met a couple from China.  The man especially was obsessed with Katie Anne.  He kept touching her hair and saying "Beautiful" and tried to get a picture with her but she cried and was shy.  I thought he was great and wished we could have conversed more easily.

The kids wanted to touch it...Katie Anne needed a little help reaching the water from the walk way :).

A man from Germany, Johnny Sack, had built a cabin there years ago.  It wasn't open the day we were there, but we walked to it and peaked in the windows.  The trail to his cabin was lined with these happy little flowers.

While looking at the river we spotted this muskrat which we thought was cute until we saw his gross rat like tail.  Shudder.

We made our way to the Mesa Falls Scenic Byway, which took us to two waterfalls of the Henry Fork river.  Katie Anne had a case of the grouchies after she spilled her water bottle all over herself.  The first waterfall was quite wide and impressive.

We drove to the next fall, which was much shorter of a fall and not as wide but had all kinds of little juts that made it dynamic.

And that's it folks.  We made our way home watching movies, stopping at Arctic Circle for dinner, and cleaning up after ourselves once we pulled into our garage.  Real life begins again.
