Northern Cali Trip, Day 1

We spent the first week of July in Ukiah, California with most of John's family and some of his cousins.  We were very excited to be there, but not so excited to drive across Nevada.
When spotting the giant BM on the mountain is as exciting as it gets, you are in trouble!

We made it to Truckee, CA that night.  We arrived late to the Goose Meadows Campground, slept well, and enjoyed a very beautiful view when we awoke the next morning.

I have seen Lake Tahoe before.  I was 21 and had a bad case of bronchitis so I enjoyed it so much more this time.  It is breathtakingly beautiful.

We finally found a parking spot, ate lunch by the truck, and slathered up with sunscreen.  John had heard about Chimney Beach on the Nevada side so we hiked down the trail and found a place to set ourselves up for the afternoon.

The rock we found was only 15 feet by about 18 feet, right in the water.  Check out the video to find out why we called it Breathing Rock:

The water was deep enough around the rock to jump in.

Other entertainment included catching a frog and climbing on the rocks.

We finally tore ourselves away and headed back to camp where we met up with John's brother and fam.  We were all very excited to see these Wisconsin cousins!
Katie Anne enjoyed this caterpillar "DAZZLING" up her arm (her words, of course).

After dinner we all enjoyed our S'mores.  Kristina especially loved hers, though she did get a little around her mouth.
