A Living House

I have been thinking about this quote alot since someone referenced it in church a few weeks ago. I had written it down in one of my missionary notebooks and it was fun to peruse them once again. So, here's a little something for you to think about...

Imagine yourself a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make sense. What on earth is He doing? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of; throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were going to be made into a decent little cottage; but He is building a palace.

I like that. I don't remember hearing it at church. I must have been distracted.

I love that book! And isn't that quote so true?! I know that I can look back and totally see how I am much different today from how I was 5 years ago.
