Yesterday's Wordful Wednesday topic:
Summer Memories
I was too busy yesterday to write. We headed to Providence where I relived my own childhood and let my kids create some of their own memories thanks to:
IRRIGATION DAY!
Every 9 days through the summer my parents irrigate. Some days they are up at 5 in the morning getting it done, and some days they are up until midnight getting the job done.
The days we love are the middle of the day irrigations. The kids enjoy the same parts of the yard as I did...the deep ditch at the bottom of the yard and sending things down the backyard ditch to see how far a 'boat' can go. My kids have a few more things to look forward to when they go like making a water slide, eating unlimited otter pops, and riding the four wheelers to pick up the dams (that's spelled without an 'n' mind you. It doesn't ALWAYS have to be a swear word!)

They also have these fun cars to drive around. My dad has acquired them over the years and made them man-powered instead of battery powered. They had a blast pushing each other around. I had to laugh at Aly, bottom right. She is 12 and hanging onto all the fun she can...they had to take the windshield off but at least she got in!
Just a quick list of other summer memories from my idyllic childhood:
1. Big pops and kiddie pools at Jenkin's
2. Endless (seriously, the game never ends) Monopoly sessions
3. Bike riding everywhere...to friends, to the mall, to 7-11
4. Playing house in the patio
5. Making up my own homework for the summer
6. Price is Right
7. Sprinklers
8. Family Reunions
9. Fireworks on/for my birthday (July 2!)
10. Trips to the Country Shopper for penny candy
Yep. Life was good then, and it's good now.
Have a great summer!
