About 13 years ago John and I started watching for the signs that we would be welcoming a child into our family. We were more than thrilled when more than one test proved it to be true. That night we went to John's brother's house for pizza and games, all the while holding that little secret to ourselves.
On my last day of teaching school I found out what I already knew, that our baby was a boy. We made our way to San Diego for John's job. We had no idea where we would live, but soon found an apartment in La Mesa. About 3 months later little Jack made his entrance at 10:08 pm. He did not cry, but looked around his new world taking it all in.
He has continued to have such a personality. He is an information gobbler, and remembers nearly everything he reads. He is, in general, pretty easy going. We love our Jack!

As you can see, he was pretty excited about his birthday. He really wants something that costs a LOT of money, so I had warned him earlier that it was not in one of those packages. Luckily, he liked what was in the packages...his own quart of ice cream, USU t-shirt, and supplies for the remote control car. Jeffrey also gave him a dollar and a candy bar.

I also made butterfinger bombs...just a scoop of ice cream rolled in crushed butterfinger, then placed in a cupcake liner and frozen again. To get the candles in I 'drilled' a hole with my meat thermometer. Cute, huh!

We decided that we would do birthday parties at 5, 8, 10, and 12. Guess what...everyone gets a party within the year! Oh my...
Jack had some friends over for a late night. We had tacos for dinner, root beer floats for dessert, then played some minute to win it games. We...
*rolled marbles onto sticky tape
*moved oreos down our face just by wiggling our skin
*Tossed marshmallows into a cup on our partners head
(which turned into a marshmallow fight, of course!)
*Played tic-tac-toe with ping pong balls and water filled cups
*moved m&m's with a straw from one plate to another
*Knocked cups off the table using air from a blown up balloon
After this we opened presents and the boys decided to watch Rocketman. I heard them laughing uncontrollably so that seemed fun too. I finally took everyone home and felt like that party earned a check mark in the success columns.
On Sunday Jack was ordained a Deacon and given the Aaronic priesthood. He was able to pass the sacrament that day, and I think after I quit crying (it was special AND I felt a little old...time is flying people!) we both had big grins. Life is good.
