February Already

Zoom Zoom!  January is gone!  What?  But I just got started!
Not to worry...the fog is back reminding me of many days of the first month of twentythirteen.

This week...
Parent Teacher Conferences
My kids are doing fine in school.  I got a few more details on the things I am most concerned about...are they nice and helpful and kind to others?  The one bad mark came in their handwriting.  It's terrible for all of them.  So, they now have to write me at least one note a day, usually for a request of some kind.  For example, "Dear Mom, I would really appreciate it if I could have some screen time.  Love, Jeffrey"

Katie Anne got to go back to pre-school on Thursday.  All of the kids are currently not sick (knock on lots of wood!).  For a week and a half Katie Anne kept herself fairly entertained.  I did my best to play with her but she didn't always like my ideas. In the end what she really is, is a movie director.  She would tell me what to say and then point at me when it was time to give my lines.
For several days we had polly pockets and teeny tiny toys taking over the living room.

My parents invited the BC couples to dinner on Friday.  Steve was sick but the rest of us went.
Mom really went all out with lots of really delicious food...ham, twice baked potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, orange glazed carrots, salad with avocados, strawberries, mandarin oranges, bacon, and poppy seed dressing.  Oh, and homemade rolls.  Yum!
Afterwards we sat in the living room and told our 'stories' of how we met and fell in love.  We learned a lot and laughed and then we enjoyed dessert...warm chocolate pudding cake.

Jack was our babysitter while we were gone.  He does a good job and I know the kids will be fine while we are gone.  It's a whole new world to have a built in babysitter!  Jack started Robots this week at school.  He's a happy camper.

Our Saturday
John played basketball on the ward team
We all cleaned the church (with the help of other families)
Ate lunch at Wendy's
Played with friends
Watched Jeffrey's BB game
Weekly Dodgeball game at the church
And yes, I made 5 batches of strawberry jam!  The berries were beautiful and on sale at the grocery store and we go through a LOT of jam.
Jane leaned over to me during sacrament meeting today and said she wanted to go up and bear her testimony.  I have never been one to take my kids up there, wanting them to do it on their own.  I told her to think of what she wanted to say and tell me when she wanted to go up.  She seemed so grown up and gave me a great smile on her way down.  Of course I had to go up with her for moral support.
