Our October didn't start off all that great. The boys have been so good about putting their bikes under our patio in the bike rack every time they rode. Unfortunately, we didn't have them locking them up and one day they were gone. We reported it to the police and provided the serial numbers. We know where one bike is, who stole it, where he lives, and where he tried to pawn the other one. What we don't have is the bikes back or any kind of closure to this. We have heard we have Barney Fife on the case so are VERY frustrated with the policeman right now. We hope for some kind of resolution that involves getting the bikes back!

On a more chipper note...John and I have been feeling the need to get our food storage up to speed. We loaded up big time at the local case lot sale. All that food and I still don't know what to have for dinner!

John worked with the scout master in the ward to put together a 20 mile hike for a merit badge. The boys (and leaders) who participated walked around our local reservoir about 4 times plus a little extra to get to the 20 miles. Though it wasn't all peaches and cream, the boys did well and didn't complain. I took up breakfast after their first loop, then went back up with the girls and Stacy. We rode our bikes around the loop then stayed for lunch. A good accomplishment!

On my way up to breakfast I passed the annual sheep run, then after we returned home we watched them walk right past our front door. About 1700 sheep are moved from Mantua to Honeyville each year. There are much easier ways of getting them there, I am sure, but if they miss even one year they will never be allowed to do it again. It's quite the production and a highlight of the fall!

After church the next day I could not believe the beauty of this tree! The girls were more than willing to have their picture taken. We were glad we did, because when we went back just a few days later, the leaves were gone!

That same afternoon we went on a family bike ride. When we want to go fast we hook Katie Anne up with John's bike. She loves it!
We ended up at a playground and let the kids get some wiggles out. Two thumbs up for a real jungle gym! Toys that were on my playground growing up are in short supply. I wanted to make sure I snagged the B in this picture... I had taught a lesson in Young Women's that day about naming your blessings one by one. Jane had the idea that every time we saw the B we could think of one blessing. Great idea!
